2012 Tractor Cruise

 Union, Missouri
09-09-2012

The fifth annual Knights of Columbus Journey for Charity "Tractor Cruise" took place on Sunday, Sept 9th.    The 30-mile cruise travels from St. Clair to Washington to help raise money and collect food for area pantries. The Knights of Columbus from all over the county take part in the event.  My brother Robert (a priest) is the pastor of the St. Claire Catholic Church in St. Clair, Missouri and he officiated at the blessing of the tractors at the start of the cruise.  Between eighty and one hundred tractors were expected to take part. We were visiting with friends when about forty tractors, making their way from Union to St. Clair for the start of the cruise, passed by their house.  This was one of them.

Carmi from Written Inc. is host of the meme Thematic Photographic. This week he asked us to feature something retro. Carmi said "If it's from the past and it makes you feel good, we want to see it."  I learned to drive in a Studebaker truck older than this one, but, this one takes me back to those days and that makes me feel good.

The Curve of the Arch

The Gateway Arch
St. Louis, Missouri
07-02-2009

This photo is another shot of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.  See the shot I posted yesterday here.   This shot was taken with my shoulder touching the right leg of the arch looking up.  Same Arch just seeing it from a different perspective. I am linking this to Carmi's meme Thematic Photographic where the challenge is to show something from an unusual angle.

Askew View of the Gateway Arch

St. Louis Gateway Arch
St. Louis, Missouri

This is one of those drive by mistake shots.  I took this while crossing the Popular Street bridge from Illinois into Missouri.  I accidentally hit the shutter button while trying to twist around in my seat for the best view of the Gateway Arch.  I kind of liked the caddy-wompus shot so I kept it.  I'm glad I did because it is perfect for this weeks theme over at Written Inc. on the meme Thematic Photographic.  Carmi, the host, asked us to feature something photographed from an askew or unusual angle.
