Noel Joins the Party

December 19, 2010

My sister and her family have two St. Bernard's Noel and Bella that apparently like wearing hats. They have a collection for different occasions. Each dog also has its own Brandy barrel that they wear when going for walks around town.

Birds in Flight

Eureka, Missouri
December 19,2010

Please click to enlarge for best viewing

There are several places around our area that are having problems with large flocks of birds. The birds take over large fields or parks and apparently moved in for the winter. I captured this group in Eureka, Mo., as they left a field and flew over interstate 44, yesterday while driving to the airport.

Limestone Waterway

Washington, Missouri

My town is built on hilly ground. Many sections of roadway have been cut through limestone bluffs. This stone wall at the end of my street turns into a waterfall every time we have a heavy rain. In the winter the water freezes forming icy stalactites.

I am linking this photo to Theme Thursday. This weeks theme is "Stone."

Railroad tracks

Railroad crossing the Bourbeuse River
Union, Missouri
The Bourbeuse may well be the king of crooked rivers - one stretch running through Franklin County near where I live spans 107.6 river miles, if it was a straight line (as the crow flies) the distance would only be 27 miles.
